Nursing Associate Apprentice

So you want a career in Nursing?

The opportunity is closer than you think!

The Isle of Wight NHS Trust is excited to be able to offer the opportunity for caring, compassionate and highly motivated individuals to undertake a Nursing Associate Higher Apprenticeship in collaboration with the Open University.

There will be a number of Nursing Associate Higher Apprenticeships available across our Trust commencing in February 2020.

The duration of the course is 2 years and is a balance of theory and practice delivered through a combination of practice-based learning and distance learning.

You will be employed as a Nursing Associate Apprentice for 37.5 hours per week and have a home base within a designated clinical area. You will be rostered for 15 hours per week in your home base and for the remaining 22.5 hours you will be undertaking a variety of clinical placements and theoretical modules that meet the requirements of the Nursing Associate programme.

On completion of the apprenticeship you will achieve a Foundation Degree in Nursing Associate Practice. You will be entitled to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Nursing Associate, which is the body that monitors and regulates the nursing profession in the UK. You must uphold the NMC Code (2015) and meet the NMC requirements for continuing registration.

This will then lead to a guaranteed post as an Associate Nurse in the Trust where you will use your expertise to support the Registered Nurse in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of holistic and person-centred care to individuals, their families and/or carers.
